Keynote Speakers
Victoria Rose
Miss Rose is a British-trained, fully accredited Consultant Plastic Surgeon at St Thomas' Hospital and King's College Hospital. She is on the General Medical Council's specialist register for Plastic Surgery and is a member of The British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Her main area of expertise is complex microsurgical reconstruction.
She has been an NHS Consultant since 2007 and worked initially in Manchester at Wythenshawe Hospital, heading up the microsurgical breast reconstruction service. In April 2013, she returned to London to take the Lead for the Plastic Surgery Trauma Reconstruction post at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation trust. She is currently on secondment to Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, setting up a microsurgical gender reassignment service.
She was the chair of the Plastic Surgery Specialist Advisory Committee for the Joint Committee of Surgical Training from 2021-2024. She holds a PG Certificate in Medical Education and a medical law degree. She is also an honorary lecturer at King’s College London.
Her work in Gaza started in 2019 with the charity Ideals, where she provided plastic surgery support to the limb reconstruction team. She then became involved in setting up a plastic surgery training programme in Gaza and trained a Palestinian surgeon in the UK. In March 2024, with Ideals, she spent two and a half weeks working at the European Gaza Hospital. In August 2024, again with Ideals, she spent a month at Nasser Hospital.
Maniram Ragbir: BAPRAS President
Mr Maniram Ragbir is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the current President of BAPRAS. He was born in Trinidad and attended medical school at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. He began his surgical training in Trinidad and completed his specialist training in multiple plastic surgery departments in the United Kingdom, including Swansea, Exeter, and Newcastle upon Tyne, where he developed his specialist interest in head and neck and sarcoma reconstruction surgery. He took up a consultant post in the Caribbean before returning to the UK.
His current work lies with head and neck reconstruction and sarcoma resection and reconstruction, for which he is internationally recognised. He is widely published in all areas. For his expertise and dedication to the treatment of sarcoma, he is currently the lead clinician for the Bone and Soft Tissue Tumour Service for the North of England. He has been the training Program Director for Plastic Surgery Training in the North East for eight years and has worked closely with the Newcastle Surgical Training Centre.
He was chair of the Specialist Advisory Committee for UK plastic surgery in 2018 and has been in charge of national selection for Plastic Surgical training in the UK. He is a previous examiner for the Intercollegiate FRCS (Plast).
Ahmed Khashaba: ICOPLAST President
Dr Ahmed Khashaba is an Emeritus Professor of Plastic Surgery at Zagazig University since 1997, Head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Dar El Fouad Hospital, and Head of Plastic Surgery at Nasser Institute since 2012. He is also the current President of ICOPLAST.
